The royal shooting range Sølyst has since 1736 been the setting for a large number of events with associated prominent persons.
On 20 January 2011, the Benelux Business Club (BBCs) held an event on the prestigious premises, where the Luxembourg Embassy had invited the BBCs members to a high-profile event.
Besides the opportunity of networking between the approx. 40 attendees, the evening featured an interesting speech, given by the ambassador of Luxembourg, Mr Pierre-Louis Lorenz, with the title: "Luxembourg, the International Hub for Financial Services”.
The speech focused on why Luxembourg is considered the financial hub of Europe today? Why are many banks located in Luxembourg, and what are the challenges of the future in terms of demographic issues?
The conclusion of the speech is that Luxembourg is a small country with a huge impact on the financial services. It is an international country. Although the industry for finance is the main industry in Luxembourg, the domestic finance market represents less than 1%. More than 40% of the Luxembourg population is not Luxembourgers
The meeting offered a fantastic opportunity for networking, which of course is the main purpose of the Benelux Business Club.
We thank the embassy of Luxembourg for organising the successful evening, which included a delicious buffet.
